Listening your way
back to regulation.
When the body has been shaped by trauma, even rest can feel threatening. The Safe & Sound Protocol is a gentle, non-invasive listening intervention that works directly with your nervous system. In time, the music helps re-pattern how you experience safety, connection, and a sense of calm.
When we move at the pace of the body, we create space for a deeper kind of co-regulation — where connection can unfold from a place of nervous system safety, rather than pressure or performance.
How SSP works
Gentle. Paced.
Body-led.
The SSP uses specially filtered music to stimulate the vagus nerve, which gently guides the nervous system out of states of defense and into a felt sense of safety. Sessions are short, non-demanding, and paced entirely to your nervous system’s readiness.
- Filtered music stimulates the vagus nerve to support regulation
- Sessions are 5–30 minutes, paced to your readiness
- Integration support before, during, and after
- Available in person or remotely
- You don’t need to talk — just notice and listen
Who the SSP supports
This might be
a fit if you…
This work is especially supportive for those whose nervous system hasn’t felt safe enough to fully receive other forms of therapy. It creates the somatic conditions that allow deeper psychological work to take root.
- Live with anxiety, shutdown, hyperarousal, or emotional flooding
- Struggle to stay regulated in relationships or therapy
- Have a history of complex trauma or early attachment wounds
- Want to support your body’s healing in a gentle, non-verbal way
- Struggle with sensory sensitivities interfering with your life
A paced, supported
process.
Because the protocol is paced in alignment with your nervous system’s capacity, each package is thoughtfully tailored to support safe integration.
01
Intro consultation
A 45-minute nervous system mapping session. We’ll explore your history, your patterns, and whether the Safe & Sound Protocol is the right fit for where you are right now.
02
SSP protocol
5 hours of filtered listening, broken into digestible 20–30 minute segments. Paced entirely to your nervous system’s readiness — never pushed, always supported.
03
Integration support
Ongoing integration sessions offered as needed. The SSP can also be paired with individual therapy for a more layered, depth psychological approach.
SSP & depth work
A foundation for
deeper work.
The SSP is not a standalone fix; rather, it’s a somatic foundation. When the nervous system has a felt sense of safety, it becomes possible to go further in therapy: to stay with difficult material, to tolerate uncertainty, to explore what has previously felt too threatening to approach.
At Wild Refinement Studio, The SSP is offered as part of a broader Jungian and somatic approach — creating the conditions your body needs to allow deeper psychological and relational work to take root.
Developed by
Dr. Stephen Porges &
Polyvagal Theory
The Safe & Sound Protocol was developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, whose Polyvagal Theory maps how the autonomic nervous system governs our capacity for safety, connection, and mobilization. The SSP is a practical, evidence-based application of that research — designed to gently retune the neural circuits that underlie social engagement and regulation.
- Evidence-based & clinically validated
- Delivered through the Unyte-ILS platform
- Practitioner-supervised throughout
